Android Application Development – Get your system ready

Hello Friends,

From today onwards, I will be updating articles about Android Application Development. And here is the first of the series.

To begin with Application development in Android, you need to setup the Development Environment on your system accordingly.

So lets get the Nuts and Bolts for Application Development in Android.

1. Your system should have the Java JDK installed. Click here to get the latest version of the same.
2. Then Download the Android SDK. Get it from here.
3. Now you need Eclipse. Eclipse is a  free and open-source IDE used for writing the application code. Click here to get Eclipse for free. Prefer choosing the Classic version of Eclipse.

Once you are done with downloading all the above mentioned tools, let start with their configuration process.

Installing the Java JDK should not be tough for you, as you must have already worked on it earlier. Simply double-click the setup file and follow the on-screen process.

Once you have downloaded the Android SDK (it could be the installer or the compressed zip file), simply run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions, or extract the contents of the compressed zip file into a folder. After the completion of this step, you should be having a folder with contents as shown in the image.

The Android SDK separates tools, platforms, and other components into packages you can download using theAndroid SDK Manager. The original SDK package you’ve downloaded includes only the SDK Tools. To develop an Android app, you also need to download at least one Android platform and the latest SDK Platform-tools.
